November already!

Hello everyone,
I have not been doing a good job of updating the blog.  Somewhere between Chuck being gone and coming home time has been flying by! 

The boys are growing, growing, growing.  The will be 2.5 in a month!  They are doing so well.  (Biased option beware!!!)  I will bore you with a few details then show you some photos, the part I know you are all waiting for. 

Keegan can say his ABC's, it is so cute, I have to get it on video before he loses his sweet little voice!  Keegan is also a very determined little dude.  He is riding his balance bike and playing basketball and soccer very well!  His determination doesn't just stop with athletics, he takes it all the way and can be a bit stubborn sometimes.  One of the side effects of determination! 

Paddy has been potty training and is doing so well.  He is what we would call 3/4 of the way there.  He wears undies all day except for nap time and part of the time when we are out a and about.  Paddy is REALLY into rockets right now.  He wants to ready rocket books, pretend he is in a rocket and watch rockets launch on TV.  I'm impressed!

The boys both dressed up for Halloween, Paddy was a bit reluctant, but Keegan was all about it.  He has his dad's Halloween love I think.  Paddy is more like me, just does it because that's what you do.  Keegan sat there very patiently, as I put the 'smoke' on his face.  It was super cute!

Oh yea and Chuck getting home... that has seemed like the most normal transition.  It is awesome to have him home.  Life is just better with Chuck home!  The boys are still saying mom for everything, but I don't think that has anything to do with Chuck being gone.  From what I gather that is 100% normal. 

We had a nice week in Idaho visiting friends and just hanging out as a family in the beginning of October, it was really fun.  We are very blessed by our family and friends.  Thank you all for being you!

2 years old how did that happen

The boys turned two  on May 27th and they are not babies anymore.  We have been blessed with so many family and friends that have fallen in love with our boys.  Chuck and I couldn't be happier for all the helping hands.  This mama needs all the help she can get especially with Chuck deployed!

The boys are really getting big.  They have been doing soccer on Saturday's for the past few months.  Keegan and Paddy are both very coordinated.  Keegan is very determined and will practice something over and over until he gets it.  Paddy is more of the I can do it I don't need practice kind of kid. 

We had a very fun birthday party with the boys, our family and our friends.  The one thing missing was Chuck!

The boys had fun playing dress-up for their Father's Day photos.  I'm not the least bit surprised as Halloween is Chuck's favorite holiday.  So glad they got this fun attitude from him!

We have been working on learning their first names.  Saying my name is....  So far they are a little confused.  Paddy almost always says Paddy, but then a minute later will say, "Paddy where are you?"  So we have been trying to help them understand that they share almost everything, but their name is there's and they don't have to share it.  :-)

 

We just started gymnastics so hopefully I will get some photos and good stories about that for my next post!

 



Daddy's Deploying

Hello,
Chuck will be deploying for 5 months.  The boys don't have a clue, but I'm freaking out.  Five months of being a single mom doesn't sound ideal, but that's life and I will put on my big girl panty's.  So that's what's happening in our life, now on to the fun stuff.

The boys are growing so fast!  They learn 10 new words a day these days and are stringing 3-5 words into a sentence.  They know most of their colors, they will say Yellow and point at something Blue.  I figure know the words is great and linking them to the exact color will come. 

It is really funny to see how twins learn.  On Saturday Paddy woke up grumpy and was laying on the floor crying.  Not throwing a fit or anything just upset he had to wake up I guess.  So Chuck, trying to make him feel better, asked if he wanted to watch Ralph or Nemo.  Keegan, who has been observing this exchange, lays on the ground and throws a pretend fit and says Ralph....  It was so funny we just laughed at him.  See what we are teaching our children.  These darn kids learn so much form observing our interactions with the other one.  We have to watch ourselves.

We took some photos with our friend Lisa from Black Cat Photography this past weekend so we can have some good photo evidence of how much the boys have grown while chuck is gone.  I will post some of those below for your looking pleasure.  That's what you really want anyway. 

We were singing Head shoulders knees and toes, with the second verse of eyes and ears, mouth and Nose....  So the extra hand gestures go with that!

We started Little Kickers in March.  The boys are really enjoying it.  Paddy is more of the kind of kid who has good skills, but chooses when to use them.  Keegan on the other hand is very athletic and loves to show off.  He is usually the first to 'win' the race. 

 

The other thing they have recently been introduced to is the park.  They LOVE the park.  They love swings, sides, and bridges.  They are so much fun to watch as they run around the park from one toy to the next.

 

 

Good bye for now, I will do my best to keep this updated as Chuck is gone.  Thank goodness for family, friends and good helpers!  Otherwise I'm pretty sure I wouldn't make it thru this delpoyment.

Hawaii for Christmas

Aloah, my parents took the whole famdamily to Hawaii this February as our Christmas gift.  We all had a wonderful time.  My parents, bless their heart, had the room with the boys and Austin, and gave us 'kids' a true vacation and we got to sleep in the other condo with the big kids and the cutest best baby ever, Payten.  She is almost perfect.  If she didn' spit up ALL the time, I think we would say she is the best baby ever, but no one is perfect.

So there was lots of swimming, running after balls, and just enjoying the sun.  I will try my best to get the family photos  up soon, but I do have some wonderful professional photos we had taken while we were there.

Welcome 2013

Hello

It has been a busy time in everyone's lives I know. Christmas and the new year is always such a fun and busy time. We are settling down into 2013 and wanted to share the last of 2012 with you. The boys are doing what all kids do which is growing, learning, and playing. They are so much fun. The way they interact is so impressive to me. I just love how they take care of each other. Don't worry they are totally normal and they pick on each other as well, but I will focus on the positive here.

Paddy or Keegan will take the morning milk from me and give the first cup to their brother. They call each other 'brother' too it is super cute. They have a lot of words in their vocabulary and are expanding it at an alarming rate. They are also the cleanest kids you will ever meet. If we allowed it they would take 3-4 baths a day as well as wash their hands like 20+ times a day. OCD or is it just the water? ;-)

We had Christmas with the Svendsen's at my parents’ house. It was us, Kevin's family, my parents and my grandparents. My parents just got a new house so they hosted it there and it was wonderful. Then we had Christmas with Nancy the following weekend, which was lovely as well. I had my first Krispel.

Oh and for some reason I had it in my mind that the 'N' word (no) wouldn't start until they were 2. My little over achievers started at 17.5 months, lovely.

We have also started the potty training, which I think is going to be a long process. We try to use the bathroom several times a day and our 'reward' for trying to use the potty is to wash our hands.  I know it's the little things they love.

Also I have to get Keegan dribbling a soccer ball on video, he is really good.  I know we are those parents  who thinks their kids are amazing.  Well try as we might to not be 'those' people, these little guys do amaze us every day.

Ok well that's all for now, and as they boys would say, 'Bye-Bye.'

December all ready

Hi there,
So it's December right?  Where did the rest of the year go? 

Well the boys have been doing well; they had their 18 month appointment last week.  Keegan is a whapping 23.2lbs and Paddy is 25.6lbs.  Paddy was 1.5 inches taller than Keegan and has huge feet.  Chuck thinks he will be taking after my brother in the height department.  Keegan will probably be more like Chuck in the 5'10" range we hope.  We don't want them to take after their short mom. ;-)

So as you can see the pumpkin finding was a lot of fun!

 

The boys are very physical as they LOVE to climb up on everything.  They are very proficient at climbing into a chair and sitting at it, and if that isn't good enough they can then climb onto a table just for fun.  Keegan is very fast he walks at the same pace I walk at.  Paddy is more of a stop and smell the flowers kind of kid. 

 

They both are very good at signing and know how to point to their body parts when asked.  We are working on animal noises now!
