6 months all ready?

How time fly’s when you are having fun!  These two little guys had a wonderful first Thanksgiving at Nana's house with Aunt Kelly and Great Aunt Charlotte and Great Uncle Ted.  They ate, slept and played.  They also had their first yam and bananas and rice cereal.

We are starting rice cereal and bananas in the morning this week.  Then in the afternoon we have a meal too.  They have been loving broccoli and sweet potatoes the last few days.  These little dudes can eat, I'm in trouble.  Actually dad usually cooks so he will be whipping up large meals to feed these growing boys soon enough!

We had our 6 month check up last week.  Keegan is weighing in at a wrapping 14lbs and 11oz and Padraig is 15lbs and 2oz.  So KC is catching up!  Pretty sure that's what he has been up to with his new 'late night feedings.'  Yea we have slept thru the night from about 10 weeks and now it's been about 3 weeks or waking up in the middle of the night.  Wow, I'm not ok with this. ;-)  Love my boys but I don't want to see them at that time of the night.

We are hoping to decorate the house for Xmas this weekend.  Here's a few sneak peek photos of the boys and their Christmas clothes

Solid food

Last week the boys started on rice cereal and bananas, and oh my I was so impressed how do babies know how to eat when they have never done it before?  I'm pretty sure they are genius’s. :-)  So three days of that then we started onto carrots.  Now we are getting into more of what you expect from kids the weird faces etc.  I have one 'Mikie' and one who is a little more particular about what he eats.  So guess who is who.... Ok Keegan is Mikie, and Paddy is our more 'particular' eater.

So we got ok at carrots so I added peas last night.  Now Mikie loved this peas and carrots he ate almost all of both.  I'm sure he would have finished it all if I had let him.  Paddy on the other hand went on a solid food strike.  He was screaming and spitting out peas and carrots.  Yea green and orange all over his face.  So I was sitting there, let me correct myself, standing there with Padraig attached to me 'drinking' and feeding Keegan with my left hand peas and carrots.  I felt like it was a scene out of a movie.

Chuck has been able to help out with the feedings as well.  Day one of carrots we decided that a bath was in order after the carrots and before the milk portion of the meal.  Mom was very happy about this as I was the one the carrot faces were going to be attaching to! :-)

I will share some photos and even try a video clip of our first food adventure!!

Teething

So this week has been full of teething experiences.  We went to the Urgent Care on Sunday because Paddy was crying and so sad, yes I'm a first time mother.  Also he hadn't wet a diaper in about 12 hours.  He was eating, but who knows why he wasn't letting anything out.  So my friend Sue came by to help watch Keegan while PT and I ran to Urgent Care.  Paddy was perfect the whole time until I got him out of his car seat.  Then he was pissed.  The doctor looked at him said I don't see anything wrong.

He had me get some Pedialyte and some prune juice, oh yea because he hadn't had a BM since the previous Sunday.  Assuming maybe that was his problem.  So off we went back home.  He basically had to be held all day long to not be upset.

Keegan on the other had was a super trooper that day.  He was all smiles and really made the whole experience so much easier.  These little guys sure are great!

So needless to say, both boys are still chewing on their hands and patiently waiting for their teeth to come in.  I thought they had a cold, but I'm pretty sure all these symptoms they are having are all teething related.  So we will be awaiting the breaking of the first tooth for each boy!

5 months

Holly cow, 5 months now how can that be?  These two little boys are growing, growing, growing!!!

Keegan is rolling from front to back and talking up a storm.  It is rather sweet when he talks to you.

Padraig is in love with the exersauser.  There is a Lion on it that he loves to chat with.  He has been increasing his volume of talking as well, and his volume is literally increasing.

The sweet sound of Keegan's talking  is offset by the boistrous sounds of Padraig talking.  They are night and day at times and so similar at other times.

I know how much I love my neice, my friends kids, but really you just don't understand until they are yours.  I wish I could explain it, but I do know that I really didn't 'get it' until these two blessings came into our world.

I find my patience for Keegan and Paddy is boundless, but I do find it rather funny when Chuck, who is the most patient and calm person I know gets annoyed with the crying.  We are rather spoiled as our boys really don't cry much, knock on wood that keeps up.    Chuck is seriously so much help I know I couldn't do this by myself and I don't.  I have so much help from family, friends, we are 120% blessed.

4 months

Keegan and Padraig had their 4 month appointment on Wednesday the 28th.  Keegan was 12lbs 5.8oz and 23inches long.  Padraig was 13lbs 1.2oz and 23.25 inches long.  They did the head circumferences and Padraig’s was in the 7% and Keegan’s was in the 25%.  Which is rather funny because they aren't back dating anything for us so everything else is around 5%.  The good thing is they are on the curve and increasing every time we go.

The boys set their own schedule each day normally eating between 4am and 5:30am, it seems like if they sleep thru this feeding, like they did today, they can usually make it until 7:30 or so.  Yes these kids are pretty great on old mom and dad.  I guess this means we are in for it when they get older. ;-)  They usually eat about every 4 hours.  Their normal schedule has them eating around 8am, 12pm, 4pm and 8pm with the morning feed varying.

Keegan has started flashing huge smiles and really loves to talk.  He is so cute!

Oh yea and Padraig is starting to teeth already, and he is so cute as well!!  Padraig is the ladies man flashing smiles that light up his whole body.

The boys accompanied me to a quilting weekend at the coast this past weekend.  Nana and grandma were there too along with lots of other lovely ladies.  The boys did an excellent job of being babies.  They really were a delight and so good! I will add some photos next time I get a few minutes.  I just wanted to update you!

3.5 months and counting..

I decided to start this blog about boys so you can watch them grow with us!

Ok so to start off Keegan and Padraig were born on May 27th, 2011.  Chuck and I were there for the birth it was a C-section.  Keegan is 1 minute older then Padraig, he will hold that over his head for the rest of his life, I'm sure.  I know I would. :-)  Keegan was 4lbs 1oz and 17 inches long, and Padraig was 5lbs 0oz and 17.75 inches long.

They spent the first 13 days of their life in the NICU.  Where we had amazing nurses and doctors that helped us get the boys on a schedule and taught us lots of valuable information.  We were so happy to see the boys come home with us on Thursday June 9th.  They were 'feeders and growers' in the NICU and have been doing that since they have been home.

Today they are approximately 12 and 13 lbs.  We will have an accurate weight on the 28th of September as they go in for their 4 month check up.  The boys are doing so well, they are exploring so much, finding their body parts like their hands and tounge.  It is so fun to watch them grow and learn.  Chuck and I are both working, but we have our nanny Katie staying with the boys from 7:30-2:30 each day.  She fills in those gaps that we can't be there!  We are oh so blessed and really know how lucky we are to have family and good friends!
